Appliances are the pieces most likely to arrive working and then fail a week later. Water lines, refrigerant, drum shipping bolts and the fifteen-minute rule on a modern compressor decide that, and in Orlando so does whether power is on at the new address before the truck leaves.

Six boxes, about thirty seconds. You pick when to be called back, and that is when the phone rings.
Or call (321) 463-9055Whirlpool's own moving guidance says a refrigerator can be transported upright or lying down, but the settling time before it is plugged in depends on what is inside it. A unit charged with R-134A needs to stand upright at least 15 minutes before power is connected. An older unit containing R-12 needs 24 hours upright. The refrigerant type is printed on the model and serial number tab, so it is read, not guessed, and failing to observe it can damage the compressor. The same guidance says to pull the cabinet straight out rather than walking or wiggling it, and to lay cardboard or hardboard down first to protect the floor.
A front-load washer moves with its transit bolts reinstalled or with equivalent drum blocking, because the suspension that isolates a spinning drum is not designed to restrain it against road shock. Supply hoses come off at the valve and drain into a bucket, the drain hose is tied up, and both ends of every hose are bagged. A gas dryer connection is disconnected and capped by whoever is licensed to do it, and the flexible connector is replaced rather than reused at the destination. Vent transitions do not travel attached to the appliance; they get cut loose and remade at the new address.
The City of Orlando picks up two large items free at the curb on your yard-waste day with no scheduling call, and the list explicitly covers standard household refrigerators, dishwashers, clothes washers and dryers along with furniture that two people can load by hand. Anything too heavy for a hand load needs a claw truck at a cost that varies with the type and amount. The rule that catches households: all doors must be removed from refrigerators and freezers before they go to the curb, so children cannot become trapped inside. Items go at the edge of the property before the curb, clear of the sidewalk, mailbox, hydrant, storm drain and overhead utilities.
An appliance delivered into a house with no electricity is an appliance nobody can commission. On the OUC system a start-service request at an address with no active service may be completed the same day if it is submitted before 4:00 p.m. on a weekday, and after 4:00 p.m. it becomes the next business day. There is a $25 connection charge on the first bill and a deposit may be required. The Move Service form is the one to use inside the OUC territory because it allows service to overlap at the old and new addresses, which is what lets a refrigerator stay cold at one end while another is being commissioned at the other.
Section 507.01 of the Florida Statutes lists "boxing or servicing of appliances" among accessorial services, alongside disassembly or reassembly, long carry, elevator or stair carrying and waiting time. That means appliance handling is a priced, itemizable service in a Florida intrastate move rather than something folded invisibly into an hourly rate. Ask for it as its own line, and ask specifically which end of the job includes reconnection, because disconnecting at the origin and reconnecting at the destination are two separate tasks and only one of them may be in the figure you were quoted.
A quarter of Orange County's 495,966 housing units were built between 2000 and 2009, and that era puts the laundry pair upstairs in a closet off the hallway. Getting a 250-pound front-load washer up a switchback flight is a stair-carry job with a measured landing, and the closet door casing is usually the tightest dimension in the whole route. Measure the casing, the closet depth and the landing before the date, and load appliances early in the day: Orlando's mean July maximum of 92.2 degrees makes an afternoon appliance carry the worst-scheduled hour of the move.

Call (321) 463-9055The Census Bureau puts Orange County at 1,528,002 residents as of July 1, 2025, up 6.9 percent from the 1,429,910 counted in the 2020 census. The Orlando Economic Partnership reports the Orlando region added 37,690 residents in the year ending July 1, 2025, the sixth fastest growth among large U.S. regions.
Why it matters: Constant in-migration and turnover is why moving capacity in Orlando is tight at month end and why interstate loads arriving here are usually consolidated with other shipments. It also explains the mix of jobs: long hauls inbound from other states, and short cross-county moves as households shift between Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Brevard.

Census QuickFacts puts the owner-occupied housing rate in Orange County at 56.8 percent for 2020-2024, meaning roughly 43 to 44 percent of occupied homes are rented. Orange County's own fair housing analysis counts 209,073 renter-occupied units out of 444,543 occupied units, about 44 percent, and reports that apartment complexes make up about 28 percent of the county's housing stock against 56.5 percent single-family detached.
Why it matters: Apartment and condo moves are the most common household move in Orlando, and managed properties set the terms: a certificate of insurance naming the property, a reserved service elevator or loading window that is often weekday-only, gate codes and dock heights. Those requirements decide the arrival time and the crew size, and a crew that turns up without the paperwork is refused at the dock.

Chapter 507 of the Florida Statutes requires every mover doing intrastate household moves in Florida to register with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services before operating or advertising. The registration number must appear on each estimate and contract, in advertising, and on a sign on the driver's-side door of the truck in lettering at least 1.5 inches tall. Operating unregistered draws an immediate cease and desist order and a civil penalty of up to $5,000, and withholding delivery of goods after the shipper has paid what the estimate states is a prohibited practice.
Why it matters: It gives an Orlando household three concrete things to check before load day: the number on the written estimate, the number in the advertisement, and the number on the door of the truck in the driveway. It also means the written estimate is a regulated document rather than a courtesy, and that goods cannot be held in storage as leverage once payment matches the estimate.
