One heavy thing, one address to another. A sleeper sofa out of a third-floor walk-up, a treadmill into a Baldwin Park bonus room, a marble table into a downtown condo. The job is short, so nearly all of the cost sits in access rather than in distance.

Six boxes, about thirty seconds. You pick when to be called back, and that is when the phone rings.
Or call (321) 463-9055For a single piece the route is the entire job. What matters is the narrowest point, not the average: door leaf width with the door removed, the diagonal of the piece against the door opening, the stair run's tightest turn, the landing depth, handrail projection, and ceiling height at the top of the flight. An elevator adds two more numbers, the door opening and the internal diagonal, and a piece that will not stand on end inside the car is not going up in it. Send photographs and those dimensions before the booking, because the answer to "will it fit" is arithmetic and it can be settled in advance.
Section 507.01 of the Florida Statutes lists long carry, elevator or stair carrying, hoisting or lowering, waiting time and disassembly or reassembly as accessorial services distinct from transportation. On a two-mile single-item move the transportation line is trivial and those accessorial lines are the whole bill. That is not a markup, it is where the labor is: four flights with a landing turn can take longer than driving across the county. Orange County has 32,055 apartment units in buildings of five to nine units and 48,536 in buildings of ten to nineteen, much of it walk-up stock, so stair carrying is the normal case here rather than the exception.
For the 57,095 Orange County units in buildings of 20 or more, delivery is usually a dock or a marked freight zone. The city's Freight Loading and Unloading Permit applies to vehicles of 5,000 pounds gross weight or over 80 inches wide working downtown; freight zones are identified by a sign and an orange-painted curb, a vehicle cannot occupy one for more than 30 minutes, and it cannot return within 30 minutes of leaving. The permit has to be visible on the rear of the vehicle and the operator has to be actively loading. For a single item that is workable, but only if the elevator reservation and the building contact are already arranged when the truck arrives.
A single item gets more protection than the same item would inside a full load, because it has no neighbors bracing it. Glass and stone tops come off and travel on edge in a padded frame or crate, never flat. Upholstery is blanketed and banded before it leaves the room. A treadmill's console folds and locks and the deck is strapped. Feet, casters and finished corners get individual padding, since those are what catch a door casing. Then it is strapped to the wall of the truck rather than left to slide, which is the difference between a single-item move and a favor with a pickup truck.
Most single-item deliveries create a single-item removal. The City of Orlando picks up two large items free at the curb on the household's yard-waste day with no call needed, and the eligible list covers sofas, chairs, dressers, TV consoles, toilets, sinks and standard appliances that two people can load by hand. Anything heavier requires a claw truck at a cost that varies with type and quantity. Items go at the edge of the property before the curb, clear of the sidewalk, mailbox, hydrant, storm drain and overhead utilities. Refrigerator and freezer doors must be removed first.
Orlando's mean daily maximum is 92.2 degrees in July and 92.0 in August in the National Weather Service Melbourne normals, and Florida has no state heat-exposure standard for outdoor work after House Bill 433 in 2024 preempted local ones. A single-item job is mostly carrying, with none of the indoor pauses a full move provides, so an early slot is worth asking for. In a gated community, confirm in writing whether the truck uses the resident gate or a service entrance and whether a certificate of insurance naming the association is required, because a wait at a guardhouse on a one-item job is billable time against a job that should take an hour.

Call (321) 463-9055The Census Bureau puts Orange County at 1,528,002 residents as of July 1, 2025, up 6.9 percent from the 1,429,910 counted in the 2020 census. The Orlando Economic Partnership reports the Orlando region added 37,690 residents in the year ending July 1, 2025, the sixth fastest growth among large U.S. regions.
Why it matters: Constant in-migration and turnover is why moving capacity in Orlando is tight at month end and why interstate loads arriving here are usually consolidated with other shipments. It also explains the mix of jobs: long hauls inbound from other states, and short cross-county moves as households shift between Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Brevard.

Census QuickFacts puts the owner-occupied housing rate in Orange County at 56.8 percent for 2020-2024, meaning roughly 43 to 44 percent of occupied homes are rented. Orange County's own fair housing analysis counts 209,073 renter-occupied units out of 444,543 occupied units, about 44 percent, and reports that apartment complexes make up about 28 percent of the county's housing stock against 56.5 percent single-family detached.
Why it matters: Apartment and condo moves are the most common household move in Orlando, and managed properties set the terms: a certificate of insurance naming the property, a reserved service elevator or loading window that is often weekday-only, gate codes and dock heights. Those requirements decide the arrival time and the crew size, and a crew that turns up without the paperwork is refused at the dock.

Chapter 507 of the Florida Statutes requires every mover doing intrastate household moves in Florida to register with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services before operating or advertising. The registration number must appear on each estimate and contract, in advertising, and on a sign on the driver's-side door of the truck in lettering at least 1.5 inches tall. Operating unregistered draws an immediate cease and desist order and a civil penalty of up to $5,000, and withholding delivery of goods after the shipper has paid what the estimate states is a prohibited practice.
Why it matters: It gives an Orlando household three concrete things to check before load day: the number on the written estimate, the number in the advertisement, and the number on the door of the truck in the driveway. It also means the written estimate is a regulated document rather than a courtesy, and that goods cannot be held in storage as leverage once payment matches the estimate.
